About Eshul SMS

Eshul LLC ("Eshul") sends SMS text messages to members of participating synagogues who have explicitly opted in. SMS is operated by Eshul on behalf of synagogues using our platform. This page describes our opt-in process, the messages members may receive, message frequency, and how to opt out.

How Members Opt In

Eshul SMS opt-in happens entirely within the Eshul mobile app (iOS and Android). There are two distinct opt-in steps:

Step 1 — Account-level opt-in (system messages)

When a user signs up for Eshul, they provide their phone number and verify it using a one-time code. During this flow, the user sees the following on-screen consent text and must check a consent box before continuing:

Step 2 — Synagogue-level opt-in (shul messages)

Account-level opt-in covers system messages only. To receive messages from a specific synagogue (such as zmanim, announcements, or billing reminders), a member must separately subscribe to that synagogue inside the app and opt in to SMS from that synagogue. The on-screen consent text is:

Members can opt in or out for each synagogue independently and can manage opt-ins at any time inside the Eshul app under Profile → SMS Preferences.
